All members of the Scout Association between the ages of 18 and 25 can become members of the scout network. As a member of the scout network you could be:
a leader with another sectiona section assistant or skills instructora member of scout active supporta member in another capacitya member solely of a local network

A scout network programme will reflect the huge variation in members' interests. Some local networks will have activities that concentrate on one area of the programme, whilst others will have a wider range. One of the key elements is the opportunity to get away as a group, either under canvas or in other accomodation.

A scout network members can continue on with the award scheme started in explorer scouts, working towards three awards, the "Chief Scout's Platinum Award", "Chief Scout's Diamond Award" and, the "Queen's Scout Award". Those who achieve this high standard each year are invited to take part in the annual Easter Sunday parade at Windsor Castle.

At the same time members may also work towards the Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme.

There is also the Explorer Belt which can be the challenge of a lifetime. This is open to explorer scouts aged over 16 and members of the scout network. It is a chance to take part in a ten-day expedition that brings a real understanding of a different country, its people and way of life.

The explorer belt is sometimes described as 'the antidote to the package holiday'. It is designed to help young people develop a real understanding of another country by travelling through that country, completing surprise projects, working as a small team and meeting local people.
