This weekend was meant to bring together Scouts from across Durham for the much-anticipated Confido camp. Sadly, nature had other plans. With Storm Amy sweeping across the region and a yellow weather warning in place, Durham Scouts made the difficult but responsible decision to cancel the event on Friday evening, prioritising everyone’s safety.
While it’s always disappointing to see a major event like Confido called off—especially after so much preparation, excitement, and teamwork—it’s also a reminder of the resilience and adaptability at the heart of Scouting. The decision was made after conditions on site began to deteriorate, with high winds bringing down branches and damaging tents.
To everyone who was looking forward to the weekend: your enthusiasm doesn’t go unnoticed. The spirit of Confido isn’t confined to one field or one weekend—it’s in how we pull together, look out for one another, and keep the adventure alive no matter what the weather brings.
Durham Scouts have shared that they’re already looking at future opportunities to bring everyone back together once conditions are safer. Until then, keep that Confido spirit alive!
Darlington Scouts will be back for 2027 !!!
