This weekend, our Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, and Scouts from the 7th Sea Scouts joined forces with the Eastbourne Explorers for an unforgettable visit and sleepover at Beamish Museum.

After settling into the historic Masonic Hall for the night, the young people spent the day exploring the museum’s incredible features — from stepping back in time on the old trams, to discovering life in the 1900s town, pit village, and countryside.

A highlight of the trip was an amazing chippy tea from Middleton’s Chip Shop (once based in Darlington), enjoyed before heading to the old‑but‑new 1950s cinema to watch a film together.

They stocked up on traditional sweets from the shop, and the festive spirit continued with plenty of fun on the rides at the Christmas Fayre.

The trip was packed with laughter, learning, and adventure. It was a fantastic opportunity for our groups to come together, make new friends, and experience history in such a hands‑on way.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this visit possible — memories like these are what Scouting is all about!
