Our Explorers from Elm Ridge and Harrowgate Hill, along with a special guest from Seaham, have successfully completed their Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Practice Expedition.

The weekend was packed with adventure, teamwork and plenty of learning. The team covered their planned routes, put their navigation skills to the test, and developed their camp craft throughout the expedition. Like any good practice expedition, there were a few lessons learned along the way, with everyone agreeing there’s a little navigation to brush up on before the qualifying expedition. There was even time for a memorable “investment on a rock” that is sure to become one of those expedition stories that gets retold for years!

Congratulations to all of the Explorers for their determination, resilience and positive attitude throughout the weekend. Practice expeditions are all about learning from the experience, building confidence and preparing for the real challenge ahead—and this group did exactly that.

The next stop is the Silver DofE Qualifying Expedition, and we wish them every success.

A huge thank you goes to David Ferguson for giving up his time to help run the weekend. Volunteers like David make opportunities like this possible, and we are incredibly grateful for his support.
